PFAS: deputies adopt a bill to reduce exposure to “forever pollutants”

A few days ago, a bill to restrict the manufacturing and sale of products containing PFAS, also known as “perennial pollutants,” was discussed in the Assembly.

This proposal was adopted with a large majority (187 votes for, 5 against). According to article 1 of this law, the ban on PFAS will come into force in 2026 for clothing textiles, and in 2030 for other textiles, wax products and cosmetics.

PFAS are per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, omnipresent in daily life, including Teflon pans, food packaging, textiles and automobiles. They are nicknamed “eternal pollutants” because of their extremely long life cycle and, for some of them, their harmful impact on health.

At Ose Services, we offer on-site expertises to support companies in the diagnosis of PFAS pollutants.

This support and the research of PFAS are of paramount importance for companies, not only for the health of their employees, but also because of the significant fines incurred in the event of discharge and contamination of water, proven by public services.

With our expertise in advanced chemical analysis, Ose Services is able to provide precise and customized solutions to detect and assess the presence of PFAS in various environments. Our cutting-edge techniques allow us to identify even the tiniest concentrations of these pollutants, providing businesses with reliable data to make informed decisions.

In addition, our ability to intervene directly on site offers a considerable advantage, enabling rapid diagnostics and immediate actions to control and reduce the risks of PFAS contamination. This proactive approach helps companies implement effective corrective measures, thereby minimizing impacts on human health and the environment, while avoiding the legal and financial consequences associated with regulatory non-compliance.
